Hardware lists your counter tablets, QR scanners and ticket printers, with their status and health. A tablet or printer shows as OFFLINE after 3 minutes without checking in (the exact time is shown at the top of the page). A paired tablet checks in every minute while any page of the restaurant portal (the Dashboard included) or the counter screen is open on it; it goes OFFLINE when the browser is closed, the tablet sleeps or it loses its connection. Scanners don't check in: their row shows their last scan instead. You'll also see printer problems such as PRINTER OFFLINE or PAPER OUT.

The Hardware device list

Each device has its own settings:

  • Paper (printers and tablets): the paper width, 80 mm or 58 mm.
  • QR code (printers): Printer QR command, or Image (older printers) for printers that can't print QR codes themselves. When you set up a new printer, print one ticket and redeem it: if its QR code doesn't print properly, or it scans but shows TICKET NOT FOUND, choose Image (older printers) and reprint your board's tickets.
  • Plugged into (scanners): which tablet the scanner is attached to.
  • Counter (tablets): counter mode, on or off. When it's on, the tablet redeems tickets without anyone signing in. Every change is recorded.

To disconnect a device immediately, select Revoke, then Revoke device.

Pair a counter tablet

  1. On the tablet you want to pair, sign in with a manager account and open Setup → Hardware. (On an iPad, add Forward Tab to the Home Screen first and do this from the icon; see Counter tablet.)
  2. Under Register a device, choose Counter tablet and enter a Label (for example, "Front counter tablet").
    • Leave Counter mode ticked if staff will redeem tickets on this tablet: its counter screen needs no sign-in.
    • Untick it for a tablet that only prints tickets.
  3. Select Register device. A device token is shown once. Select Pair this tablet. Treat the token like a password.
  4. Counter tablet: select Sign out and open the counter screen. See Counter tablet.
  5. Printing tablet: under Ticket printing, make sure Print station (browser) is selected. Open Print station on the tablet and leave it running. Counter staff sign in to it; the pairing stays with the browser.
The Register a device form

USB and Bluetooth scanners work like a keyboard and don't need a token. For a thermal printer run by a print agent on a PC, register a Thermal ticket printer. Then follow the command shown with its token.

Choose how tickets print

Under Ticket printing, choose how your restaurant prints tickets:

  • Print agent: a small program on a PC prints to a network or USB thermal printer automatically.
  • Print station (browser): a paired counter tablet with the Print station page open prints each ticket.
  • Manual (PDF): no printer. Select Download new tickets (PDF), print them and pin them on the board. Downloaded tickets are marked as printed, so the next download only has newer tickets.

Whole board (PDF) downloads every ticket currently on the board.

The print queue

Print queue shows recent print jobs and their status. When a printer is out of paper or offline, tickets wait in the queue and print once it's fixed. If a job FAILED, fix the cause and select Retry.

To replace a damaged ticket that's still on the board, enter its number under Reprint a damaged ticket and select Reprint. Then discard the damaged original.
