Where: Restaurant → Scan & redeem. Everyone sees it.
When a guest hands you a Forward Tab ticket:
- Ring up the meal on your register at $0 (a 100% discount). Write down the transaction ID.
- Open Scan & redeem and enter the ID in 1. POS transaction ID (required).
- Identify the ticket in one of three ways:
- USB or Bluetooth scanner: just scan the ticket's QR code. You don't need to click anywhere first.
- Tablet camera: select Start camera and hold the ticket's QR code up to it. When it's read, a green bar says "Ticket QR captured".
- Ticket number: type the number printed on the ticket (for example, #1042) using the keypad under Or type the ticket number.
- Select Redeem ticket.

The screen then shows a large result. Select Next ticket to clear it and start again.
If a printer or tablet has a problem, a Printer and device problems box appears at the top of Scan & redeem with what to do.

What the result means
Result | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
VALIDATED | The ticket is good, and reimbursement is queued. | Serve the meal. |
NOT REDEEMABLE | The ticket was already redeemed or can't be used. | Don't serve it as a Forward Tab meal. Let your manager know. |
WRONG RESTAURANT | The ticket belongs to another restaurant. | Let the guest know the ticket is for a different restaurant. |
TICKET NOT FOUND | No ticket has that number, or the number you typed belongs to another restaurant's ticket. If a scanned QR code shows this, the ticket's QR code may have been printed wrongly. | Check the number on the ticket and type it on the keypad instead. If typing the number works but scanning doesn't, tell your manager: the printer's QR code setting needs changing (Hardware). |
NOT ALLOWED | Your account can't redeem tickets for this restaurant. | Ask your manager. |
NOT ACTIVE | Your restaurant isn't active on Forward Tab right now. | Contact Forward Tab support. |
ERROR | Something else went wrong, such as a lost internet connection. | Check your connection and try again. |

No questions asked. A valid ticket is all a guest needs. Never ask who they are or why they're using a ticket.
Managers can follow each redeemed ticket to its payout under Reconciliation.
On the counter tablet? If your manager set up a counter tablet, it shows this same screen without anyone signing in. See Counter tablet.
